WHZ RacingTeam
For more than 100 years Zwickau has a name as an auto mobile location in Germany, especially in race sports due to the success of the Auto-Union race cars in the 1930’s.
Almost 75 years later a small group of students from our university decided to continue this tradition by bringing another race car from Zwickau to the start lane within the scope of the Formula Student competition in 2006.
By now our team consists of about 60 students from the University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, enrolled in different departments. Construction and assembly of the race car are done in the fields of powertrain, suspension, frame&body, electrics and electronics, whereas the finance, marketing and public relations teams are responsible for the economic aspects of the project.
We have a vehicle fleet of 6 race cars. Four of them are powered by a combustion engine. The two others are driven with electric motors.
In 2008 the first race car from Zwickau started at the international construction competition of the Formula Student. Thanks to the hard work of the former and present team members the team from Zwickau has earned itself a good name in the competition.
Therefore the foundation for innovation and realizing visions is being made. For us it was not only important to see the reality of the theoretical studies, but also to gain experience, develop further and build a team out of individuals!
